Behind the Yellow tape
Welcome to a blog site dealing with the political, legal, and cultural issues surrounding policing and emergency services. I write, for the most part with British Columbia as my geographic focus, as it is the area I am familiar with, and where my career as an investigator for the RCMP came into fruition. As we enter the 21st century, policing agencies, whether Municipal, Provincial or Federal, have become large and sophisticated entities who by their very nature are secretive, and too often political and ineffective. This is less about specific investigations but more about the process and the policies which govern them.
